The results
- £36,000 in bookings through the eola marketplace in the past year
- Over 2,000 active members, who now join, pay and manage their details online
- More bookings online, so the phones ring less and the queue at reception is shorter
- The whole team can set up activities and schedules, and sessions are never oversold
Outgrowing a legacy system
Norfolk Snowsports Club runs a dry slope at Trowse, on the edge of Norwich, with lessons, junior clubs, race training and tubing. It is run by a committee and has no IT team on site.
When Hannah joined the club, its booking system worked, but only just. Pulling membership data was difficult, booking took customers more steps than it should, and the team relied on manual processes. Upgrading would have meant a big upfront cost, with no confidence of the support the club needed.
“Finance wanted better reporting. Front of house wanted less admin. And for me, it was about improving the customer experience, and ultimately increasing revenue.”
New revenue through the eola marketplace
The eola marketplace was a big reason the club chose eola. It listed its entry-level sessions there: ski and snowboard tasters, beginner lessons and tubing, the sessions people new to the sport go looking for.
“The results have been incredible, we’ve generated £36,000 in bookings through the marketplace in the past year.”
For a club without a large marketing team or budget, that is business it would not otherwise have had.
More bookings online, shorter queues
Customers now do far more online, so the team spends less time on admin and more with the people at the slope.
“Customers are doing so much more online now. The phones ring less, queues are shorter, and that’s made a huge difference to the experience we can deliver.”
Setting up a new activity or schedule is quick, so it is no longer a job only management can do. eola manages the space on the slope so sessions are never oversold, and sends disclaimers and follow-up emails on its own.
Memberships without the desk work
Memberships are central to the club, with over 2,000 active members. They used to be signed up and paid in person at the desk. Now members join and pay online, from home or on the club tablet, manage their own details and book their sessions, and their payments are taken automatically.
| What changed | Before | With eola |
|---|---|---|
| Joining | Signed up in person at the desk | Online, from home or on the club tablet |
| Paying | Paid in person at the desk | Taken automatically |
| Booking | More calls and a queue at reception | Far more done online |
| Scheduling | A job for management | Quick enough for the whole team |
The club spends less time on the membership process and more on its members, and its membership is growing.
A team you can rely on
The club doesn’t think of itself as technical, so eola being easy to use mattered, and so did the support behind it.
“They’ve even visited us on-site to help us optimise how we’re using the system. That’s something we just didn’t see with any other provider.”
