The eola bucket list: Kitesurfing
There are so many things we’ve all done these past months to keep ourselves busy and motivated. This has left us with some great new skills, but also dreaming of the things we want to do when the lockdown is over.
Since joining eola, I’ve noticed that everyone has one activity they are a bit extra excited to try. For me, it’s kitesurfing. The sense that you could harness the power of the wind to fly across a body of water is completely magical to me. And having seen the incredible footage and read the fantastic stories from our kitesurfing partners, I'm now 100% sure that I'll be booking myself onto kitesurfing course as soon as I can!
Thanks to our amazing partners on the eola marketplace, I've a lot of outlets to choose from. Here I've put together a list of some of the places I'll hopefully be visiting for you to check out too.
Edge Watersports
Edge Watersports is a fantastic, family-run outlet based in Exmouth. Owned by Steph and Eric Bridge, these guys are some of the premium teachers of kitesurfing in the country and it is all down to their combined 50 years of teaching experience. Anything these guys don’t know about kitesurfing isn’t worth knowing.
Book yourself onto a Kitesurfing Discovery Course. Not only will you get great advice on your kitesurfing moves, you’ll have an awesome time learning and exploring the stunning Devonshire coast. What could be better?
Nomadic Kitesurf
I love Hampshire, and always enjoy going back to the familiar views and to grab a drink from my favourite bar. Now there's even more reason for me to visit this beautiful county, as Nomadic Kitesurf, based in Calshot, offers a wide range of private and semi- private kitesurfing classes. They also host bespoke events for big groups, and you'll be in good hands being taught by handpicked and highly experienced instructors.
You can find a space for yourself on one of their great courses or classes, or even buy a credit voucher for a friend or family member so they can pay Nomadic a visit as a special treat.
These guys really know what they are doing, and describe kitesurfing as one of the most addictive sports on the planet. I can’t wait to find out if that level of passion will be passed onto me!
Get Kiteboarding
Planning to take a trip to Sussex now that you can travel again? Why not take a trip to John Aldcroft’s Get Kiteboarding school? Based a stone’s throw away from Chichester this fantastic school will offer you the chance to learn and improve your kiteboarding abilities in a range of classes and tours. You can book yourself onto private or semi-private classes with their 1:1 lessons or their 1:2 sessions for you and a friend, ideal!
A haven for extreme watersports enthusiasts, you can choose to learn with the team in Sussex or even head further out on one of their trips. Take your kiteboard and your sense of adventure along to stunning locations for a journey that promises to be unforgettable.
As the world starts to get back to normal, we can be really happy that we have so many incredible outlets on the eola marketplace who are looking forward to teaching us new skills, and providing an opportunity to explore and fulfil our dreams of exciting adventures and unforgettable experiences.
We’ll be sure to let you all know how my kitesurfing endeavours pan out! I imagine there will be plenty of laughs and lots of falls along the way, and I am thoroughly looking forward to it.
Looking for a booking system to help you run your outdoor activities? eola is dedicated to helping instructors and outdoor activity centres share their passion with more people. We reduce your administrative burdens, so you can have more time to spend doing what you love. Find out more at our watersports page.
