Activities in Porthcawl

Surfing and outdoor group activities are the main options. Coney Surf School and Porthcawl Surf School both run surf lessons in Porthcawl. Adventures Wales, also in Porthcawl, offers white water rafting, gorge scrambling, paintball and a muddy assault course. A beginner surf lesson starts from £35 per person. A 1-2-1 surf lesson is £85 and a four-week adult beginner surf course is £105 per person. Paintball and the muddy assault course are from £45 per person. White water rafting and gorge scrambling are from £69 per person.

Every activity listed here has dates between November and March, including surf lessons, rafting, gorge scrambling, paintball and the assault course. Rafting depends on river levels. If the river is not suitable, Adventures Wales changes the session to gorge scrambling and does not offer a refund.

Surf lessons at Porthcawl Surf School are for ages 7 and up. Paintball with Adventures Wales is for ages 12 and up. Paintball and some assault course and gorge scrambling sessions are for groups of 6 or more. Other age limits are on each activity page.

For surfing, bring swimwear and a towel. Porthcawl Surf School also suggests warm clothes, snacks and change for car parking. For rafting and gorge scrambling, bring swimwear, a towel and trainers or hiking boots to wear in the water. For paintball and the assault course, wear old clothes and bring a full change of clothes and shoes, as you will get muddy.
