Activities in Bristol

Bristol grew up around its harbour on the River Avon, which flows out through the Avon Gorge to the Severn Estuary. On eola you can book guided canoe and kayak trips and hire with UKAO @ Avon Valley near Keynsham, forest school sessions at a wildlife centre with Into the Wild, and one-to-one personal training, a weightlifting course and sports team training with NDM Sports & Personal Training in Henleaze.

Wing foiling with Velocity Foiling shows here when it adds new dates. At Avon Valley, canoe hire is for over-8s and kayak hire for over-12s, and everyone on the water needs to swim 25 metres. For more nearby, see Bath, Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire.

  • Can I do activities in Bristol in winter?

Yes. Archery and air rifle shooting at UKAO @ Avon Valley have winter dates, and so do Into the Wild's forest school and NDM's training sessions. Canoe and kayak hire has no dates on eola yet, so check the activity page. Wing foiling with Velocity Foiling shows on eola when it adds new dates.

For canoeing and kayaking, bring swimwear or shorts, old trainers or water boots, a towel and a drink; all other equipment is supplied. For archery and air rifle shooting, bring sunglasses or a cap if it's sunny, and wellies and a waterproof jacket if it's raining. For forest school, wear long sleeves and trousers because of ticks, and for NDM training, bring a sweat towel and a full water bottle.
