Snowdonia

Snowdonia is a beautifully preserved national park where you can experience the literal highs and lows of Wales with its mountains and beaches. There is a vibrant cultural history set to the backdrop of stunning mountain ranges created by long-dormant volcanoes and glaciers. The most famous mountain in Snowdonia is Snowdon itself, which has long been a training ground for those wanting to climb Mount Everest!

Of course, where there are great heights, there are dramatic lows! Anglesey Outdoors offers gorge walking experiences through the rocky valleys between the mountains. They will show you the unique geology up close as you clamber through the rocks and boulders.

The Lake District

As the largest national park in the UK, the Lake District is well known for its breathtaking landscapes. Tranquil lakes lie in the shadow of impressive mountains, locally known as fells, making you feel like you've stepped into a fantasy novel. In fact, the Lake District has been the inspiration for many writers and poets, with Beatrix Potter being one of the most well known.

The fells were carved out by glaciers millions of years ago, leaving deep, rocky valleys behind as they continuously changed shape and size. Lake District Mountaineering has taken advantage of these impressive rock formations and offers many activities, including canyoning. They provide a bespoke experience and use their local knowledge to make sure you get the most out of your time with them!

The Brecon Beacons

South Wales has a rich and varied history which is perfectly reflected in the landscape of the Brecon Beacons. The area has been shaped by people over thousands of years and you can explore many prehistoric and Roman monuments. The Beacons have everything from soaring mountain peaks to deep caves - perfect for exploring!

The Brecon Beacons are known for their grassy moors and Old Red Sandstone peaks which are surrounded by hidden gorges created by powerful waterfalls. Adventures Wales can take you on a gorge scrambling or canyoning adventure between the mountains. Led by their instructors, you will scramble your way through the gorges, and they will help you get a close look at the waterfalls!
