Activities in the Highlands

Highland is the largest council area in the UK, running from Fort William and the Great Glen to Skye, the Summer Isles and the north coast. On eola you can book four- and five-day paddleboard expeditions with Sup2summit, to Knoydart, Loch Hourn, Arisaig and the Summer Isles, along the Great Glen SUP Trail from Neptune's Staircase near Fort William, and down the River Spey.

Kayaking and canoeing with Otter Adventures at Strontian, and sea kayak expeditions with Destination Sea Kayaking, show here when they add new dates. Otter Adventures' canoe trips are for ages 8 and over. Read more in the Sup2summit spotlight. For more nearby, see Aberdeenshire, Loch Lomond and Stirling.

Questions about activities in the Highlands

  • What can I book in the Highlands?

On eola you can book four- and five-day paddleboard expeditions with Sup2summit: to Knoydart, Loch Hourn, Arisaig and the Summer Isles, along the Great Glen and down the River Spey. Read more in the Sup2summit spotlight. Kayaking and canoeing with Otter Adventures at Strontian, and sea kayaking with Destination Sea Kayaking, show on eola when they add new dates.

  • How much do activities cost?

Sup2summit takes a £100 deposit per person on eola to book a place on an expedition. The full price of each trip is in its listing, for example £600 for Loch Hourn and £750 for the Great Glen SUP Trail.

  • Can I do activities in the Highlands in winter?

Sup2summit's expeditions have no dates on eola between November and March. Otter Adventures and Destination Sea Kayaking show on eola when they add new dates.

  • Are the activities suitable for children?

Sup2summit's listings don't give a minimum age, so check each expedition's details before booking for under-18s. Otter Adventures' canoe trips are for ages 8 and over, and under-18s must be with a parent or guardian.

  • What should I bring?

Highland weather changes quickly, so pack warm layers and a waterproof jacket and trousers, and check each Sup2summit listing for its kit list. On Otter Adventures' canoe trips, wear old trainers that can get wet and avoid jeans and cotton clothes.
