Description

Our coaching session introduces you to the skills of paddling; our sessions will focus on developing techniques in kayaks for forward and backwards paddling as well as skills needed to be able to paddle with confidence on the river. Paddling sessions quickly develop your skills in boat handling as well as skills like getting into and out of the boat in a range of scenarios as well as improving your paddling techniques. This paddle sports course will make sure your paddling is enjoyable, safe with the knowledge that you can head out onto the water with the skills and confidence to have a great adventure.

Requirements

Water confidence and an ability to carry the boat at a portage point or lock. Be prepared to get wet as some skills focus on paddling techniques for edging and controlling the boat.

What to bring

Please bring with you a change of clothing, suitable wet shoes for paddling in and a hat for warm/ cold weather. Bring a drink as we will be out in the elements for a couple of hours when paddling.

Itinerary

During the session you will have the opportunity to develop several paddling skills including forward and turning techniques for boat control. By the end of the session you should feel happy to be able to go paddling as part of a small group on the water, safe in the knowledge you are confident that you are able to paddle independently.
