Walk inside a Victorian dam as part of our ELAN FEST!
As part of our Elan Fest, celebrate part of what makes Elan Valley so wonderful and venture into Pen y Garreg Dam and into the central tower. One of our rangers will be on hand to answer all your questions so don't be shy...
These short self-guided tours are a perfect addition to your day's itinerary at Elan Fest. Walk through the dam at your own pace, before emerging onto the central platform where you’ll enjoy a bird's-eye view of the dam wall – and learn about the feat of engineering that made Elan.
Don't forget to check out all our other exciting activities happening this weekend: https://elan-valley.co.uk/events/

Getting here:
Arrive at the car park and follow the red arrows to walk to the dam within your chosen slot - you don't have to arrive on the hour/half hour.
Upon arriving at the entrance to the dam, you can enter and walk through the corridor at your own pace before emerging onto the central platform and enjoy the view, ask the ranger any questions you have or have a look at the construction photos.
If you have purchased an add-on hot drink and scone package, these can be taken in the Visitor Centre café before or after your Dam Open Day experience. It takes about 15 minutes to drive to/from Pen y Garreg to the Visitor Centre, so please ensure you leave enough for the dam and the scone!

Great walk, we visited 3 of the dams in Elan Valley. We would definitely return hopefully on a clearer day. Incredible engineering that has stood the test of time.
