Permit for launch of Float Tube at Siblyback
Siblyback Lake is situated on Bodmin Moor, offering the striking backdrop of a Cornwall National Landscape. An especially atmospheric location, Siblyback embodies different moods as the seasons change: from wild and windy winters to flat calms in the summer, the lake is a special spot in Cornwall.
The fly fishery is regularly stocked with rainbow trout averaging just under 2lbs, with many fish in the 3-6lb bracket.
The lake is home to a large population of resident brown trout to 4lbs, which are catch and release only. A ‘catch and release' ticket is available but barbless hooks must be used. Fly fishing only.
The fish fight hard and quality is superb. Watch out for the fantastic hatch of beetles in May and June, which provide some amazing dry fly action.
Siblyback lends itself to some fantastic boat fishing with great drifts possible. Boats are available for hire, but booking is essential to avoid disappointment. For more information click here. Please note that you will need to attend a boat safety and induction talk before you can use a fishing boat on our waters.
Already have your own gear? You can launch your own equipment on the lake for the day, this is per craft not per person and is valid from 10:00 – 16:00. Please note, day launchers are welcome to stay on the water after the safety cover finishes at 16:00 – but only if staff deems the persons on the water competent to do so. The buddy system must be in place and you must launch before 1500 in order for the Activity Centre to allow this to happen.
Buoyancy aids are compulsory.
Third party insurance is required when launching your own equipment at any of our lakes. You may already be covered by an existing insurance policy you hold. We will need to know who you are insured with and when the policy expires when you book with us. If you do not already have third party insurance, click through for some options https://bit.ly/3r4CR5z
The launch fee includes use of the facilities and provision of rescue cover (in designated areas at the advertised times). A digital disclaimer form must be completed for all participants before arrival for activities – you will receive a link via email and text after booking.
Please read the following information before booking to launch your equipment:
• Under 18’s must be accompanied by a responsible adult who must stay on site during the duration of the launch session.
• Suitability of Equipment – SWLT staff reserve the right to inspect equipment and refuse launch if equipment is deemed unsuitable.

In this instance, we will do our best to contact you before you arrive but there may be occasions when this is not possible. We will make the final decision as to whether your session can go ahead. Please respect our decision.
