A day trip down the River Thames, Reading to Henley
Join us for a day paddling down the River Thames from Reading to Henley-on-Thames, with a tranquil detour through the hidden gem of St Pat’s and Hennington backwater.
Expect peaceful stretches, lush riverbanks, and a chance to explore one of the Thames’ most scenic and secluded routes. Perfect for paddlers looking to stretch their skills and soak up the wild beauty of the waterway.
Important Information
This is a one way paddleboard trip and requires a shuttle. You can either park the at finish point and catch the bus to the start or in reverse park at the start point and catch the bus back up at the end of the trip. If you book as a group you can leave 1 car at the finish point and drive yourself and friends to the start point.
The finish location is a free to park car park whist the starting location is a pay and display.
There are 2 bus routes to choose from, that operate between the start and finish point, Please do your own research and decide what works best for you.
We have small dry bags to accommodate phones, wallets, keys, spare layers to stay warm etc.
If bringing your own paddleboard please ensure you have a correctly fitted buoyance aid and quick release waist belt. (These can be borrowed)
If you do not have these you will be unable to participate in our trip.
We will meet at Wokingham Waterside Car Park to kit up and brief overview of the route before getting on the River.
This trip is about 12km and has 2 locks to portage (walk around)
We will have lunch at the St George and Dragon Pub, plenty of time for a pub lunch or bring your own.
Back on the water to enjoy Hennington backwaters before arriving in Henley-on-Thames
