The RYA Sea Survival Course is designed to teach you exactly what to do in emergency situations at sea


The 1-day course prepares you with good knowledge of the safety equipment carried on small boats and the techniques needed to survive in emergency situations at sea including:


  1. Lifejackets – wearing, checking & servicing
  2. Liferafts and the equipment they contain
  3. Lifesaving appliances - how they work
  4. How to summon help
  5. Types and uses of distress flares,
  6. Use of PLB's, EPIRB's SART's & VHF Radios
  7. Practical liferaft launching/inflation drills
  8. In water survival techniques
  9. How to enter a liferaft from the water
  10. How to right a capsized liferaft
  11. Cold water shock/hypothermia
  12. Other medical aspects of sea survival
  13. Search and rescue techniques
  14. Helicopter rescue procedures


A fun and essential course enabling you to experience first hand the problems of entering an uncooperative liferaft and assisting others while fully kitted out in wet weather gear and a lifejacket!
