Family Friendly Spooky Dam Open Day

Powys

Halloween has arrived at Pen Y Garreg!

Do you dare to venture along our spooky woodland trail and inside a haunted Pen Y Garreg dam?

Make your way up through the woodland keeping an eye out for the pumpkin markers. On each marker is a letter. Use these letters to create a password which will get you past the gatekeeper and into the dam.

Walk though Pen Y Garreg dam to the central tower where you can collect a Halloween treat, then continue your journey through the dam, down through the woodlands and back to your car.

Costumes are optional but also encouraged!

***

Park at Penbont car park and follow the spooky trail through the woodland and up the steps to the dam entrance. The walk from the car park will take between 10-20 minutes; please factor this into your travel to the dam to ensure that you arrive within your chosen time as we are unable to accept late-comers.

If you feel that the access through the woodland to the dam is not suitable for yourself/a member of your party, please speak to a member of staff before the event. They will be able to direct you if appropriate to a small space at the top of the dam that allows easier access.

Due to Covid-19 social distancing regulations, numbers inside the dam have to be restricted; queuing may be expected so please be patient with us. You may be asked to wait before entering the dam and we may need to limit your time inside the structure. Hand sanitiser will be available at the entrance to the dam.

Please be aware that there are steps inside the dam which may be wet and in some areas there are low light levels and narrow corridors. Torches are necessary. Children should be carefully supervised at all times. Dogs are welcome on short leads.

Entry is £5 for adults and £1 for those aged 18 and under with half of all proceeds going to our chosen charity WaterAid. Tickets must be bought in advance; there will be no option to buy tickets on the door. Please print or download your confirmation/ticket beforehand as there is no signal at the dam and you will be required to show evidence of booking.

Refunds: there will be no refunds issued to bookings made on the day. If you need to rearrange your booking to another time/date due to unforeseen circumstances then this may be possible, depending on availability.
