    Are you are new to Paddleboarding? or just want to make sure you have some extra knowledge? this SUP Safety course is for you. On this 2.5 hour course we will take a look at some of the often overlooked aspects of planning a paddle and look further into understanding what makes a safer journey.


    On this course we will look at a few topics to help you become a safer paddler. These include:

    1. Planning your trip
    2. Equipment
    3. Safety
    4. On the water Techniques


    The course will be based on the land to start going through some theory and equipment before moving onto the water to look at practical skills and put some of the theories into practice.


    While we provide Buoyancy aids, Paddles and a Sup if you have any of your own kit it is always better to learn with your own so please feel free to bring this along. (If your bringing your own inflatable Sup please arrive in time to inflate before the session starts)



    Requirements

    Minimum age 15 years old.

    All under 18's must be accompanied by an adult on the activity

    What to bring
    1. Suitable clothes for weather conditions.
    2. Change of clothes
    3. Towel
    4. Your regular paddling kit
    5. Money for an after paddle coffee, slice of cake or even an Ice cream.


    Itinerary

    Once all participants are signed in your instructor will meet the group and begin the course.


    To start with we will look at the planning of a trip out paddleboarding. looking at:

    1. Weather.
    2. Tides
    3. Wind
    4. Locations
    5. Access and egress


    We will then move on to looking at our equipment:

    1. Boards, fins, leashes
    2. Personal Flotation Devices
    3. Clothing and footwear
    4. methods of communication
    5. food and hydration
    6. First aid and repair considerations


    Before getting on the water we will have a look at other safety aspects:

    1. Shore contacts
    2. Emergency plans
    3. Paddling buddies


    On the water we will look at the following:

    1. Some basic paddling techniques.
    2. Recovering yourself
    3. Helping to recover another paddler - Socially distanced.


    We will then have some time at the end to cover any questions you may have before returning to shore.
