A follow-on course for young riders who have recently learnt to ride a bike and who need extra skills. Three sessions lasting 1 hour on consecutive Sundays in small groups (maximum 6). Follow-on! includes:

1. riding on different surfaces (gravel, grass, tarmac)
2. dealing with slopes / controlled braking
3. using gears
4. standing up on pedals
5. looking behind whilst maintaining control of the bike
6. riding one-handed

The child must be able to:

1. Mount & dismount in a controlled manner
2. Start and cycle unaided
3. Make a "U"-shaped turn
4. Use both brakes

1. Child's bike & helmet
2. Suitable clothing for the weather

The learners will meet with the coach at Hadleigh Park Cycles' shop.

The coach will check the bikes to be used and on the first session carry out a short assessment of the child's cycling ability.

The coach will then lead the children to an appropriate part of the park for the lessons to take place.

The children will be led back to the shop to be collected by parents/guardians.
