  • Description

NOTE THE COST PER 2 SEATER CANOE IS £50

*Choose 1 or 2 people for this option

THE COST PER 3 SEATER CANOE IS £60

*Choose 2 people plus "1 ADD ON" if you require a 3 seater canoe

*Under 16s cannot hire a canoe independently

No previous experience is necessary to hire a canoe. Canoes are stable and easy to operate. Each canadian canoe seats a maximum of two or three people.

A staff member will give the equipment out to you but you will paddle the canals independently, without an instructor and at your own pace. This is a 2hr hire. You can take a picnic with you or stop for afternoon tea at a cafe or paddle for the duration of your hire through the heart of London. You can explore Little Venice and the Grand Union Canal.

IMPORTANT: Going through Maida Hill tunnel on the Regent's Canal is NOT ALLOWED - this is a highly regulated tunnel which you cannot cross independently.

*Please be aware that a single canoe hire in a daytime timeslot is not able to run independently so we may ask you to reschedule to an available timeslot.

*To hire multiple canoes please use the request a time option (underneath the review and book) button or contact us via email or phone.

Canoe hires are subject to our Cancellation Policy (below) and it is therefore important that you read and understand it. Reschedule requests submitted with less than 72hrs are subject to fees and all reschedule requests submitted with less than 24hr notice and on the day are subject to full fees. Please check weather forecast for the day of your planned activity. Most weather apps give at least 7 days prediction. All hires and activities will continue during most weather conditions including rain and are not subject to rescheduling at short notice (except in circumstance of extreme gusting winds, lightning or any weather conditions that are deemed dangerous - in such circumstances we will offer a free reschedule).

    Requirements

You do not need to be a proficient swimmer, but should be comfortable about falling into water while wearing a buoyancy aid and carry out a self-rescue.

    What to bring

Try to arrive 'ready to go' (note very limited changing facilities). Pop up changing tents are available on site.

    What to wear/bring?

Remember to check weather forecast and dress accordingly.

    In warm weather (spring/summer):

    1. comfortable clothing
    2. comfortable shoes
    3. extra layers to take with you in case you get chilly on the water
    4. sunscreen and a sun hat if needed
    5. water/snack

Where can I leave my belongings?

There are no lockers on site but personal belongings (in a bag) can be left in lockable equipment cages. You can also take some of your belongings in a canoe with you.

    Safety advice

Wear a buoyancy aid at all times.

In the rare instance of capsize you need to swim to the side, climb up and take the canoe out.

Canoes are very stable and capsizes should not happen if you are being careful - avoid two people leaning over in the same direction, standing up in a canoe etc.

    Itinerary

You can explore Little Venice and the Grand Union canal. Remember that you are not allowed to go through the Maida Hill tunnel on the Regent's Canal.
