Hadleigh Park Ready to Ride

These BSUPA ‘Ready to Ride’ group SUP sessions are suitable for those who are completely new to SUP or have SUPed before but have not received the BSUPA ‘Ready to Ride’ skills and competency certificate. (BSUPA is the British Stand Up Paddle Association.)

Come and learn at this beautiful, water-tested and sheltered lake!

You will be using our SUP kit and buoyancy aids and you will need to provide all your own clothing and footwear (see details in 4 below). If you have one, you can bring your own SUP board. Please let us know in the booking process if this is the case. Thank you.

Children aged 11yrs-17yrs can attend as long as a parent or legal guardian is booked into the session, paddling with them and supervising them at all times, on a 1:2:1 basis (i.e. one child per parent/legal guardian.) *If you have 2 children and only one parent/legal guardian, please call us on 07597 094233 to discuss before making your booking, thank you. It MUST be a parent or legal guardian, no one else, thanks.

There are quite a few important rules and procedures that we all need to follow, especially regarding Covid-19. Here they are:

1 - You must be a competent swimmer and able to swim at least 25m clothed.

2 - Each 11-17yr old must be accompanied in the session by a parent/legal guardian, on a 1:2:1 basis (see * above).

3 - The Government's Covid-19 rules, particularly those about social distancing must always be maintained by everyone, although you must accept that in the unlikely event of an emergency, we and possibly others may break the social distance rules to assist you.

4 - You will need to bring all your own clothing and footwear as you will not be able to use ours. We will provide you will a personal buoyancy aid and a SUP board, leash and paddle (unless you tell us in the booking that you are using your own SUP kit.)

This is what you must bring with you:

-A towel, all paddling clothing and footwear. Footwear is mandatory, no bare feet please.

-You will need swimwear, a wetsuit (a shorty wetsuit is fine), as you can get very chilly when you are wet this time of year, plus neoprene wet shoes or old trainers. We have some shorty wetsuits that can be hired on the day for £3.

-A small dry bag to carry on the SUP board. (One per household/bubble is fine)

-In the bag you should have a small personal outdoor first aid kit plus personal hand sanitising gel and please be prepared to administer first aid to yourself. (One per household/bubble is fine)

-Water, any snacks you need, hat/visor*, glasses safety strap*, sun cream* any necessary medications* and bug spray* (*As required by you.)

Please do not bring any valuables (money, jewellery, posh watches, designer sunglasses, electronics etc.)

5 - Before you leave home, please cover any cuts & grazes with strong waterproof plasters.

6 - On arrival please park in the main carpark (parking fees are not included in this activity cost). The toilet block will be open but the changing rooms remain closed. Please meet us changed and ready outside the Park Office in the courtyard at the start time of your session (either 10am or 6pm) where your name will be checked against our booking list and your temperature taken. If your temperature is over 37.5 degrees you will be asked to leave. (Don't worry, you will get a chance to cool down and have another check, if you've been sitting in a hot car!)

Then we will walk down to the lake and start the session. You can bring a small bag with you to the lake.

You must be able to swim 25m clothed.

£50 per adult
£45 per child
Request a time

If you need to cancel and want a refund, please give us more than 48 hours notice from the start time of your booked session. (Or 7 days for the BSUPA Level 1 Instructor course.)

Although we hope you don't need to cancel your booking, you can do so at any time up to 48 hours prior the start time of the booked SUP activity and receive a full refund. If you cancel within 48 hours of the start time of the booked SUP activity, or you are very late for or do not attend the booked SUP activity (i.e. a ‘no-show’) you will not receive a refund. If you are booking on the BSUPA Level 1 Instructor course, less than 7 full day’s notice of a cancellation will mean that you won’t get a refund and this clause supersedes any minimum cancellation notice notified elsewhere in the booking process and/or in the terms and conditions. Thanks for your understanding.
