    FISHERY RULES IN DETAIL

Whiteadder Reservoir is covered by the Tweed Protection Order.

It is a criminal offence to fish without a valid permit.

    1. All anglers must be in possession of a valid permit. Permits are not transferable. Permits must be purchased before fishing commences.
    2. All fishing is "fly fishing" only with traditional fly rod and line from bank or boat. There are no restrictions on fly size or weight.
    3. No live bait or dead spinning. Ground bait is prohibited. Anglers in possession of these will be deemed to be using them.
    4. The bag limit is 6 fish per angler per session. The minimum takeable size is 10"/25cm.
    5. Catch and release is encouraged.
    6. Knotless nets only
    7. No littering or lighting of fires on reservoir grounds. Discarded fishing line should be disposed of properly.
    8. Ultrasonic or other similar fish-finding equipment is prohibited.
    9. Fouling of the water is prohibited. Whiteadder Reservoir is a drinking water supply. Please use the external toilet at the sailing centre.
    10. The Fishery Manager, their assistants and representatives of Whiteadder Watersports have the authority to examine permits and to inspect fishing tackle and catches.
    11. Anglers found to be in breach of these rules will have their permits and catches withdrawn and further action may be taken.
    12. Please report observed breaches of the rules to the Fishery Manager (info@whiteadderwatersports.co.uk) as soon as possible so that prompt action can be taken against the offender.

    For your safety

    1. All anglers are MOST STR0NGLY advised to wear life jackets or other suitable buoyancy aids when fishing from a boat, wading or fishing from steep or unstable banks.
    2. All anglers are strongly advised to wear eye protection when fly fishing.
    3. The consumption of alcohol on the reservoir or at the Centre is strictly prohibited.
    4. Float tubes are prohibited.
    5. Centre boats should NOT be used in wind speeds of force 5 (22 mph) and above. Even at lesser strengths, you should use discretion when going out.
    6. Anglers are reminded that they are fishing in a remote location where there is no mobile phone reception (but there is Wifi at the Centre). Take particular care when fishing alone and towards darkness.
    7. Boat anglers must not fish within 200 metres of the dam. Please take particular care in this area when fishing in westerly winds and avoid drifting close to the outlet tower.
    8. Anglers use Whiteadder Reservoir at their own risk and are strongly advised to have personal accident insurance cover in place.
