  • Description

    The RYA Level 1 is the perfect way to get dinghy sailing. No previous experience of any kind is required.


    Aims of this course: You will gain a basic understand of dinghy handling techniques and background knowledge of dinghy sailing. This course enables you to attend our mile builder sessions


    What's provided: RYA Sailing scheme logbook (RRP £8) Start sailing handbook (RRP £9), Certificate upon successful completion of the course. All saftey equipment, sailing equipment, water proofs. Hot drinks throughout the course.


    Course structure : This course is a practical course with some theoretical sections. The theory is spread throughout the course. There is no exam.


    Types of boat's: This course is delivered Fusions and Picos


    No swimming ability required. We also run the this course during the weekdays

    Requirements

    Participants must be 16+

    What to bring

    Shoes: Wear some shoes that you don’t mind getting wet. If you have wetsuit shoes, these are perfect, but if not, a pair of old trainers will be fine. Please don’t wear flip-flops, sandals or other open toed shoes and please avoid hard soled shoes or wellingtons. No crocs.

    Clothing: It’s best to bring a good range of clothing so that you can layer up appropriately for the weather. Even on a warm day, once the wind gets up it can feel a bit cold. Expect to get wet, so it’s advisable to bring a towel and some spare clothes. There are changing rooms and showers if needed.

    Waterproofs: If you have waterproof tops or trousers it’s good to bring them along. We have some spray tops you can use if needed.

    Glasses: If you wear glasses it’s best to have something a cord or elastic to hold them to your head.

    Buoyancy aids and safety equipment:  we have buoyancy aids and you can chose to wear a helmet you can discuss this with your instructor on the day 

    Sun: Please bring suncream and a hat, even if it doesn’t seem that sunny on the day.

    Food: There is basic Tea and coffee making facilities. Please bringing a packed lunch.
