Sea kayak skills weekend - improvers

A weekend aimed at paddlers who have already gained some sea kayaking skills (Strong beginners) and those who want to refresh skills at the start of the season. Read this guide to skill levels to help you decide if this is right for you.

Key information:

  1. Locations: always chosen with weather and tides in mind, most likely using the Edinburgh area coastlines
  2. Kayak and equipment hire is available

During the weekend will aim to cover:

  1. moving forward more efficiently
  2. turning and manoeuvring
  3. understanding how your sea kayak works
  4. refreshing safety and rescue
  5. gaining confidence


What to bring

Requirements

Some previous experience in a sea kayak e.g. if you have done Introduction to sea kayaking. Reasonable overall general fitness desirable. 

Itinerary

A typical day:

Meet 0830am at kayak storage location (or later if you have your own kayaks )

Chat about the aims for the day

Sort kit and kayaks

On the water activities

Lunch usually on a beach

Finishing by 4pm (these are approximate)

£170 for adults

Cancellations

Flexible and reasonable

  1. Full refund minus £20 admin fee if the booking is under or equal to £200 (not including hire fees) and cancelled at least a full 7 days prior to the activity start time.
  2. Full refund minus £20 admin fee if the booking is over £200 (not including hire fees) and cancelled at least a full 28 days prior to the activity start time.
  3. If the conditions on the day aren’t ideal but the activity still takes place, the customer will not be eligible for a refund.
