Adult Learn to Kayak

The Learn to Kayak course is run over 6 Tuesday evenings at 7pm.

Next course starts 6th July and runs till 10th August.

Covered are all the skills needed to paddle safely on flat water including basic self rescue skills. 

No experience needed.

All specialist equipment is provided, you just need old runners, togs and a towel.

You will Learn to Kayak in both Sit on Top and Sit in Kayaks.

Canoeing Ireland Level 1 & 2 Kayak Skills assessment included.

**All courses are run by qualified Canoeing Ireland Instructors**


Graduates of this course will be eligible to join our Kayak Academy and are welcome to join us on our weekend river trips and weekly evening sessions.

River Trip locations include the Slaney, the Barrow, the Suir, the Nore in Kilkenny city, sea kayak trips and many more.


We provide:

  1. Kayak and Paddle 
  2. Wetsuit
  3. Buoyancy Aid
  4. Helmet
  5. Fully qualified Canoeing Ireland Kayak Instructor 



What to bring

  1. wetsuit if you have one, if not one can be provided free of charge.
  2. something to wear under the wetsuit, ie swimming togs or shorts and T-shirt
  3. towel
  4. old runners that will get wet
  5. any relevant medication, eg inhalers etc...
  6. mask and hand sanitiser



Requirements

No experience needed to join this class but you should be comfortable in the water and be able to swim with the help of a buoyancy aid.

Itinerary

The course is run over 6 Tuesday evenings.

The 1st 3 classes are run on Sit on Top Kayaks.

We will then switch to Sit in Kayaks for the last 3 classes,

River Trip from Enniscorthy to Edermine Bridge included.

Cancellations

Rigid: Guaranteed full refund if cancelling 5 days prior.

You will be entitled to a full refund under the following circumstances:

  • If your booking is under £200 and you cancelled at least a full 72h prior to the activity start time.
  • If your booking is over £200 and you cancelled at least a full 5 days prior to the activity start time.
  • If the centre cancels the activity at any time.

If the conditions on the day aren’t ideal but the activity still takes place, you will not be eligible for a refund.
