    This is the second stage on the RYA learn to sail pathway, suitable for those aged to 8yrs+ who have completed their stage 1. Join us for 2 days of fun & learning this summer!


    Following on from RYA Stage 1, this course is designed to give you further confidence and build on your Stage 1 skills. You will learn more about controlling the direction and speed of your boat and develop your competence in light and moderate wind conditions. Tuition takes place in single-handed boats under the supervision of an RYA, fully qualified instructor.


    The course will cover:

    1. Basic Sailing skills
    2. Tacking
    3. Boat speed control
    4. Ropework
    5. Collision avoidance


    On completion of the Stage 2 course, you will be able to tack and control boat speed and have a basic understanding of the principles of sailing. You will be well on the way to becoming a competent sailor.


    Requirements
    1. Be able to swim 25m
    2. Aged 8yrs+
    3. Completed stage 1


    What to bring
    1. Shorts/T-shirt to go under a wetsuit. Feel free to bring your own wetsuit if you have one. Changing rooms are only open after activity.
    2. Shoes that can get wet (no open toe - flip flops/sliders, must be old trainers or wetboots/shoes)
    3. Snacks & lunch
    4. Drinks
    5. Suncream
    6. Towel
    7. Bag for wet kit


    Itinerary
    1. Arrive at the centre and meet your instructor
    2. This course is a mixture of on the water activity with a few theory elements.
    3. You'll stop for lunch around 12:30pm for 45minutes and then resume activity.
    4. 15:45 you'll be off the water ready to get changed to leave by 16:00
