Join us for an inclusive week in the mountains.
On this course we are looking to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of the mountain environment.
When joining this course, there are no pre-requisites.
You may be a complete beginner wanting to experience the mountains and be guided for 5 days in the mountains, or you may have some prior knowledge and are wanting some improvement and development to progress forwards into your own adventures.
We can run the week on a bespoke basis and tailor the programme towards your aims.
The 5 days are split down to allow focus on each element of mountaineering:
Climbing: 2 days
Scrambling: 2 days
Navigation: 1 Day
Example itinerary:
Day 1: In the mountain environment, we will complete a fell walk and look into the following techniques:
- Planning and preparation
- Maps, scales and symbols
- Grid references
- 4 D's of navigation and map interpretation
- Measure distances
- Timings & pacing
- Compass & bearings
Day 2 & 3: Scrambling, progress from grade 1 to roped scrambles
- Grade 1 scrambling
- Movement and coaching
- Route finding
- Emergency rope work
- Roped scrambles
- Terrain judgement
- Down climbing and descending
Day 4 & 5: Rock climbing, progression from single pitch into multi pitch
- Top rope climbing
- Wearing a harness
- Climbing movement
- Tying in & belaying
- Climbing equipment, placement and removal
- Climbing calls and seconding climbs
- Completing a multi pitch route
- Descent - lowers & abseils
This course is non-residential
