  • Description

This is a full day canyoning adventure based in the Longsleddale Valley, near Shap.

We will be using the quiet and remote valley of Longsleddale; the River Sprint cascades down in a series of waterfalls in a dramatic location.

We will meet you on location at St Mary's Church in Longsleddale and provide you with all the equipment needed for a full day canyoning.

We will provide you with the following for a comfortable and enjoyable day:

    1. High quality full length 3mm wetsuit
    2. Extra 2mm wetsuit jacket
    3. Spray cagoule
    4. Neoprene socks
    5. Helmet
    6. Harness
    7. Technical canyoning equipment
    8. Hardware & ropes
    9. Group kit & emergency equipment

We change into our wetsuits at the church parking area. There are toilets here and we will leave cars at this point, sharing vehicles to the head of the valley where we park next to the bridge.

From here we will walk up to the canyon. The walk up the valley is around 1 hour and we will walk with the wetsuits half on, carrying all we need for the trip.

We will give a full and comprehensive safety briefing & demonstrations.

The instructor will take you through the canyon adhering to ICOPro canyoning techniques, These are internationally recognised standards for canyoning.

This is a fully aquatic journey as we descend the gorge.

Mostly you will be descending the waterfalls by abseils and zip lines - all of which will be rigged and set up on site by the instructor.

We will demonstrate correct abseiling techniques and safeguard your descent as appropriate. We will move down through the watercourse, scrambling, jumping and climbing our way through - using the appropriate techniques for each section

We provide two guides where necessary, this is for enhanced safety and also for efficiency of movement, so we can move through the environment at a reasonable pace and stay warm where necessary.

For the finale, we will be heading through the narrow section of the canyon, and finishing with a final jump into the slot.

The price of this day is inclusive of:

    1. A qualified & experienced mountaineering instructor
    2. Trained to ICOPro level 3 standard (International Canyoning Organisation for Professionals)
    3. Local & intimate knowledge of the venues
