  • Description

Lake District Mountaineering offers a private guiding service for scrambling & mountaineering all over the national park. For this service we engage local, active and experienced Mountaineering Instructors to support you on your journey and offer a high quality experience for LDM customers.

This is a 2 day experience completing 4 classic Lake District ridge scrambles. All scrambles are 3 star routes and sought after by mountaineers and hill walkers.

    Day 1:

Helvellyn - Striding Edge and Swirral Edge

The starting location for this walk is in Glenridding.

The route head up Mire's Beck and onto Birkhouse Moor. From here we will the path into the infamous Hole in the Wall and the beginning of Striding Edge.

You will be guided over the ridge, with the instructor on hand to route find, coach your movement and safeguard any tricky sections on route, this will take you onto teh summit.

From here, it is down via Swirral Edge and an optional extra on the walk is Catstyecam, another summit before we descend via Greenside Mines.

    Day 2:

Blencathra - Hall's Fell Ridge & Sharp Edge

Starting from Threlkeld we make our way to the base of Hall's Fell Ridge. This is a great ridge and gets us moving across scrambling terrain.

The ridge tops out directly on the summit.

From here, we descend down to Scales Tarn and onto Sharp Edge. This is the main event.

We make our descent via Doddick Fell.

LDM is here to make it happen.

These guided days are 5+ hours long. We meet for 9:00am and should arrive back at the cars for 3:00pm-4.00pm - this is a six hour day meaning we can reach the high fells and provide a full itinerary for the day.
