Description
This is a half day activity - lasting up to three hours. It will allow you the opportunity to abseil down sheer walls and vertical rock faces and experience the thrill walking backwards down the wall, controlling your descent.
Your instructor will manage the session as you undertake the abseil. They will rig the abseils safely and provide a clear demonstration on how to abseil. You will control your own decent as you go but we will always have a backup rope clipped to you for ultimate safety.
This session is run in two main locations, all close to Coniston and Ambleside. These are:
- Tilberthwaite Quarry
- Hodge Close Quarry
- Cathedral Quarry
Tilberthwaite is a good beginner venue and we will always provide the opportunity to start easy and start small. After this we will walk 20 minutes to Cathedral Quarry, where we take a walk through through the caverns and explore the tunnels.
We will then rig the bigger abseils, up to 45 metres in height and sometimes free-hanging in space, this is a great challenge as you descend down the quarry floor.
The price of this day is inclusive of:
- A qualified & experienced instructor
- Local & intimate knowledge of the venues
- All technical equipment
- Professional instruction, coaching & guidance
- A private session - just you and your group
