2 Day Upper Thames SUP Tour

This trip is designed as a great introduction to multiday touring, A sheltered water environment, but with distances to push your limits and a feeling of remoteness, along with camping, campfires and composting toilets, in case you're not quite ready to 'go' in the wild yet.

We will meet up at the beautiful Barefoot Campsite on the banks of the Thames on Friday evening and set up camp. Dinner is served and we will settle in around the campfire for the evening.

Early on Saturday morning, we will shuttle upriver to our launch point at Radcot bridge and slowly wind our way back down the river through the Oxfordshire countryside, and the remotest parts of the mighty Thames. Paddling through miles of green fields intersected by the Willow-fringed banks of the river. Look out for Otters and Kingfishers along the way.

The absence of towns and villages gives a sense of peace and tranquillity to this part of the river, only punctuated by the bustle of the many Locks that need to be portaged along the route.

By the end of the first day, you will be happy to arrive back at Barefoot campsite with your tent already erected and waiting. Relax and chill out while we cook your evening meal and relax around the campfire.

The next day we will wake and break camp. There will be a bit of shuttling of cars to be done before our last day on the river. There is less distance to cover on the second day, so departure will be a bit more relaxed to allow for this.

We want you to paddle efficiently and safely on your trips, not just when you are with us. On this trip, you can just paddle and enjoy the view, or take advantage of Phil's years of paddling and water time to learn more about equipment and technique. You will learn about hazards in the river environment and how to mitigate them so you can plan your trips safely and enhance your enjoyment of SUP.

We provide 13' inflatable touring boards, paddles and tents for hire if you need them. Buoyancy aids and Leashes are provided free of charge. All you have to bring are the items on the kit list, a sense of adventure and a smile.

Please note that the pricing on this trip includes two evening meals and two nights camping. due to the layout of the campsite only small tents are permitted on this trip. 2-4 man max and with a sleeping area bigger than the living area.

Please message if you have any dietary requirements and we will try to accommodate.
