Great Glen Canoe Trail

Highland Council

Join us on one of Scotland's classic canoe adventures!

This is a 5 day/4 night trip of stunning paddling and picture perfect campsites giving us the opportunity to travel along one of Scotland's most famous Glens.

Starting on the west coast just outside Fort William we traverse the country using the gentle, sheltered water of the Caledonian Canal, which links together the lochs of Lochy, Oich and the formidable Loch Ness.

On all our expeditions we don't just give you a great time on the water, we also handle all the catering for the trip!

What to bring

What you need to bring with you:

  1. Clothing for paddling
  2. Full waterproofs
  3. Outdoor clothing you don't mind getting smelly and a wee bit damp in
  4. Shoes for being on the water (trainers or boots you don't mind getting wet, or wellies. We do not recommend thin wetsuit boots for this trip as there is some walking to be done.)
  5. Clothing for in camp
  6. Dry clothes for around camp
  7. Dry shoes
  8. Sleeping system
  9. Sleeping bag
  10. Sleep matt
  11. Thermals to sleep in

Worried about not having all the paddling skills you need, don't worry?

Your guide will be on hand to offer coaching tips and handy hints to help your paddling and campcraft skills develop and to make this journey unforgettable!

This is a novice level trip, you should be comfortable being outside for the duration of the trip. Your paddling skills don't need to be excellent but we do recommend you've been on the water before coming on the trip.
