Come and immerse yourself in the wild right next to Peebles town, a walk, a wild river swim and some foraging
Within a few minutes walk of Peebles town centre you feel like you are in a different land, a place where you can slow down in nature, watch the local inhabitants of the River Tweed and dip in the clean waters. Join me for a half day wander, foraging for our wild tea ingredients on the way to warm us up after a wild swim in this beautiful river.
We will be outside for the whole session and we are in Scotland so please come with suitable waterproof clothing and good foot wear. In addition please bring:
Starting right in the heart of Peebles town we will head along the River Tweed through woodland where there is an option of walking through a disused Victorian railway tunnel (torches are provided) to a spectacular viaduct, alternative route available. Crossing the river over a spectacular viaduct we’ll walk through the meadows and begin to identify and forage ingredients for our wild tea.
On this side of the river we will stop for a swim, you will be guided safely into the water and we will swim together, playing with the flow and magic of the place.
We will warm up with our wild foraged tea made with a kelly kettle on the bank of the river.
Our route will take us under the impressive Neidpath Castle, a Borders towerhouse and back towards the town.
This route has steps, uneven ground and short steep rocky and sometimes muddy sections.
