Join us for a Watersports Day at Mersea Island, where students will dive into the joys of paddleboarding in a safe, sheltered environment perfect for beginners and young adventurers. Over approximately four hours, our experienced instructors will guide groups through engaging water-based activities designed to build confidence, teamwork, and a love for the outdoors. Set against the scenic backdrop of West Mersea’s calm estuary, this day promises not only fun but valuable skills, ensuring every participant leaves with lasting memories and a newfound passion for watersports. With Mersea Island Watersports’ commitment to safety and quality, it’s the ultimate school group experience on the water!

Children should be happy being in the water but do not need to be able to swim. They will be wearing buoyancy aids at all times and supported by instructors in the water.

Children should come wearing water friendly clothing e.g. swimwear plus rash vests/t-shirts and shorts or leggings. If it cold we will provide wetsuits but please feel free to bring your own if you have them. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT CHILDREN HAVE APPROPRIATE FOOTWEAR. This could be neoprene beach shoes but old trainers work just as well. Please pack your child a towel and a change of clothes to travel home in.

Exactly what the programme for the day will be depends on the weather conditions on the day but usually we will split the group into two with half paddleboarding and half kayaking and then swap them around so everyone gets a go at everything. We will teach them the basics of both. If it is nice we may paddle for a splash around in the lagoon created by the shoring up of the outer islands of Mersea.
