Taster Kayak session

Welcome to our introductory taster session suitable for novice paddlers.

Experience the tranquil and beautiful River Stort with Whoosh Explore Canoe Club. Our kayak taster session gives paddlers a perfect introduction to the sport. from our base on the River Stort in single person kayaks.

We have a range of kayaks that are suitable for learning in which are most suited for paddlers aged 9 and over on our tours - Younger paddlers are able to join in (please contact us direct so we can plan a suitable session for your group). There will be some carrying of boats and equipment from our trailers to the start point. This will require participants to be able to some carry of boats paddles and equipment independently from our trailer which is a reasonable distance to the river.

All equipment is provided, so just bring along your enthusiasm!

During our taster session you will learn basic boat handling and paddling skills from our experienced guides. We have kayaks suitable for everyone aged 9 and over, so why not join us on a fun family adventure? Get ready for an unforgettable journey as we paddle towards Sawbridgeworth or Bishops Stortford – We tailor or trips length and duration depending on group ability & size. There might be some carrying of boats & equipment required during and at the end of the trip, to complete a memorable paddle sport adventure.

Paddlers should be able to carry boat from storage or trailer and be physically fit to undertake the activity. Some lifting and carrying of boats is required before, during and after the activity.

Suitable waterproofs, (In winter a wetsuit or spare dry clothes in a drybag) and Change of Clothing, trainers or wet boots. (No flip flops sandals or open toe shoes.)

Paddling sessions on the River Stort last about 2 hours. We plan on exploring the river on a there and back activity, there are several options for families with younger paddlers who may only want a shorter paddling distance and sessions will be slightly shorter if poor weather is forecast but we do paddle in almost all weather conditions including Rainy days.
