Description

The British Canoeing Awarding Body ‘Stand Up Paddleboard’ Support Module is designed to assist anyone who wants to gain more knowledge about the specialist discipline of Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP).

The Module introduces and explains the basic techniques and develops an understanding of SUP. The course is a mix of theory and practical activity to ensure everyone has time to try things out.


Course Content and Structure

By the end of this Module, participants should have achieved the following learning outcomes:

  1. Understand the worldwide development of the sport and the role of the various bodies on the field including British Canoeing Awarding Body, Academy of Surfing Instructors (ASI), British Stand Up Paddleboard Association (BSUPA), Sport England and Adventure Activities Licencing Service (AALS)
  2. Understand equipment design, size and modification to suit individual requirements
  3. Provide a background to the various disciplines within SUP paddling and the specific techniques that apply to each
  4. Understand the different types of Board available, their characteristics and the different techniques used on them
  5. Understand handling an SUP efficiently.


Delivered over six hours, the Module is a mix of theory and practical activity to ensure everyone has time to try things out.


Participants will work towards understanding the core skills, whilst building specific techniques to aid the enjoyment, fun and progress their skills using an SUP.

·      Current BC Membership Card or proof of membership (if held).

·      Regular Paddling Clothing for Conditions – For the time of year I would recommend at least a shorty wetsuit and cag.

·      Lunch etc.

Cancellations

Cancellation Policy

  1. Full refund if the booking is under or equal to £200 and cancelled at least a full 72h prior to the activity start time. If a cancellation of this value is made less than 72 hours prior to activity start time, a charge of 50% of the balance will be issued.
  2. Full refund if the booking is over £200 and cancelled at least a full 5 days prior to the activity start time. If a cancellation of this value is made less than 5 days prior to activity start time, a charge of 50% of the balance will be issued.
  3. If the conditions on the day aren’t ideal but the activity still takes place, the customer will not be eligible for a refund.
  4. For cancellations within 24 hours of the booking, 100% of the booking charge will be due. If the client fails to attend the booking the client agrees to pay the full booking fee.
  5. All client cancellations must be in writing.
