What to bring
Meals
Participants should bring a packed lunch, you are welcome to use the fridge and microwave at the centre. Alternatively, lunch can be purchased from nearby shops and restaurants.
Refreshments
Hot drinks and water are available from the Centre.
Valuables
We do have a small safe onsite that can hold phones and car keys, however we suggest leaving expensive valuables at home.
Clothing List
Please bring usual sailing kit for the forecast conditions, the centre can will provide all specialist equipment such as buoyancy aids, wetsuits and waterproofs as necessary.
We advise you bring:
•Closed toe footwear
•Warm layers would be useful such as a fleece or jumper. It can be much cooler on the water.
•Woolly hat / Sun hat
•Change of clothes - other than the ones you will wear afloat
•Towel, Sun Glasses & security strap, sun screen.
Itinerary
Day 1 - Training & coaching on the below manoeuvres.
Day 2 - Pre Entry Assessment.
Candidates will be ask to complete:
- Sailing around a triangle using the boats normal equipment, including spinnaker where fitted
- Sail a tight circular course around a stationary boat making only one tack and one gybe
- Sail a 'follow the leader' course
- Pick up a man over board; the boat must be stopped and more than one attempt should not be required
Candidates may also be asked to complete some of the following:
- Rudderless sailing
- Lee shore landing & departure
- Anchoring / picking up a mooring
- Come alongside a moored boat
- Capsize recovery
