There can be few better places in the UK to experience a hot air balloon flight than the Lake District. With stunning scenery of the lakes, mountains, valleys and forests this is a unique way of appreciating this very special part of Cumbria.
Our flights take place in the South Lakes area, and the pilot will select the launch site to give you the very best flight experience dependent on the weather conditions including the wind direction on the day.
Every single flight is different, but views may include Lake Windermere, Grizedale Forest, Rusland Valley, and beyond towards Coniston, Hawkshead and Ambleside, as well as out towards the coast and Morecambe Bay.
The temperature when flying, is similar as when on the ground so dress according to the season, remembering that you’ll be outside.
Covered flat shoes be worn, and walking boots or trainers are ideal. Open toed shoes, sandals and high heels are not suitable, and you should wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty, as take off and landings take place on fields.
You’re welcome to bring cameras with you, and you’ll be able to leave your other belongings in our retrieve vehicle that will follow the balloon throughout the flight.
Hot air ballooning is not a very physical activity, but you will need to be fit enough to climb in and out of the basket, stand for an hour and to be able to hold onto the rope handles and bend knees for landing.
You will not be able to fly during pregnancy.
The whole experience, from pickup and return to our meeting point takes about 4 hours. This includes travelling to the launch site in our vehicle, safety briefing, , setting up and inflating the balloon, approximately one hours flight and celebration drink on landing, packing the balloon away before travelling back to our original meeting point.
