  • Description

This is a mega day for you to not only learn all the basics of SUP from both a practical and also a safety side, but to also take your SUP skills from beginner to the next level technically - all in the same day!

The day is broken down in to a L1 Beginners session, then a L2 Technical session and then on to a mini-tour where you can utilise all of your newly learnt paddle skills and obtain your NOA/WSA SUP School Certificate.

The best way to learn to SUP is to spend time on the water, with the right people and to put everything into practice - and this is the perfect day to do it..!

From 'Zero to Hero' is the aim of the day!

Please note that during the current COVID-19 outbreak NOA and it's staff will implement a SAFE / CLEAN / HAPPY invironment and will expect all customers to adhere to Social Distancing rules of that time.

Our rules will be availabe to read on the chalkboard located outside of the NOA office.

Of course this is subject to change at any time.

    Requirements

    FAQs:

    Toilets:

Due to COVID-19 (and vandalism) there are currently no toilet facilites in the vicinity of our venue - we apologise for this in advance.

Is there a minimum age requirement to participate on these sessions?

We operate a minimum age of 16 years old for these sessions - this is due to the length of the session, potential weather conditions and also equipment levels.

Do I need to be able to swim?

Yes, due to the aquatic nature of SUP we ask that you can confidently swim a minimum of 50m unaided.

Should you not be a swimmer then we will still happily take you out, but this must be booked on a private 1:2:1 basis - please enquire directly is this in more suitable for you on: adventure@norfolkoutdooradventures.co.uk

Do I need any other clothing?

If you have your own wetsuit then please feel free to bring it as it can certainly help keep you warm especially in the early part of the season (March for example) - however in the warmer summer months you’ll probably cook..!

It is highly advisible that you also bring a change of clothing just in case of any 'accidents' - and we advise that you paddle in quick drying layers, so base, mid layer (fleece) etc - anything that closely relates to gym or workout clothing. Shorts or leggings are advisable and we advise paddling barefoot or wet shoes in colder months.

    What to bring
    1. Parking is anywhere in the car park at NOA HQ and Pleasure Boat Inn pub

    1. Toilet and changing facilities are available at the public toilet facility located on the left upon arrival in the car park.

    1. It’s advisable to bring a wetsuit (wetsuit hire is available) if you have one and especially in the earlier months of the year, however this may prove to be too warm over the summer – but ultimately remember, SUP is a dry sport (once learnt) and the idea isn’t to go swimming!

    1. If you don't have a wetsuit then a few changes of clothes to enable you to change into - just in case of any accidents!

    1. Time on the water to last approx 4 hours of actual paddling, so make sure you bring some food and snacks to keep you going - SUP can be tiring, especially when you're learning for the first time! We are also located right next to the Pleasure Boat Inn pub should you feel you need something a little more substantial.

    1. Please note that we recommend that you don’t bring a camera unless it’s of a waterproof variety (waterproof phones or GoPro type of action camera in waterproof housing etc should be fine but don’t drop them!) or if you do make sure it's tied on to your body somewhere!

    1. Your instructor will however be equipped with a waterproof camera and will happily take photos of before and after of you enjoying your adventure.

    1. If you wear glasses or want to look uber cool in pictures in your sunglasses, please remember that if you head for a swim they may get dislodged from your head, so please remember to tie or secure them on in place. If needed you can purchase a 'Croakie' from us to ensure that the cool shades don't end up looking better on a fish than you!
