  • Description

This is one of our most popular SUP adventures, as who wouldn't want to get out on the water on a SUP, on the beautiful broads at sundown!

During this session you'll start with a overview on some SUP paddling basics followed by a safety briefing, then you'll head out for a 'SUP Adventure' taking in the still broads landscape and all of it's superb nature to a resting point where we'll enjoy a well earned drink on the riverbank and get ready to see the sun going down before a paddle back to and then a good night sleep!

On a paddleboard you can not only glide quietly through the wonders of this beautiful landscape and through stunning nature reserves (normally inaccessible by motorboat or powered craft) - but you can do this whilst being able to look down in to the water and see the vast array of marine life and also to clearly see over the reed tops and across the vast landscape and huge open Norfolk skies.

Stand Up Paddleboarding is not only the current 'must-do' water based activity, but in our opinion it's the perfect way to experience the beauty of the Norfolk Broads!

    FAQs

Is there a minimum age requirement to participate on these sessions?

We operate a minimum age of 16 years old for these sessions - this is due to the length of the session, potential weather conditions and also equipment levels.

Do I need to be able to swim?

Yes, due to the aquatic nature of SUP we ask that you can confidently swim a minimum of 50m unaided.

Should you not be a swimmer then we will still happily take you out, but this must be booked on a private 1:1 basis - please enquire directly is this in more suitable for you on: adventure@norfolkoutdooradventures.co.uk

    What to bring
    1. Parking is anywhere in the car park at NOA HQ and Pleasure Boat Inn pub

    1. Toilet and changing facilities are available at the public toilet facility located on the left upon arrival in the car park.

    1. It’s advisable to bring a wetsuit if you have one and especially in the earlier months of the year, however this may prove to be too warm over the summer – but ultimately remember, SUP is a dry sport (once learnt) and the idea isn’t to go swimming!

    1. If you don't have a wetsuit (or haven't hired one) then a few changes of clothes to enable you to change into - just in case of any accidents!

    1. Time on the water to last approx 2 hours of actual paddling, so make sure you bring some food and snacks to keep you going - SUP can be tiring, especially when you're learning for the first time! We are also located right next to the Pleasure Boat Inn pub should you feel you need something a little more substantial.

    1. Please note that cameras are ok to bring but please make sure you don't drop it as they don't have a tendency to float too well! If you do bring one then make sure it's tied on to your body somewhere!

    1. Your instructor will however be equipped with a waterproof camera and will happily take photos of you enjoying your adventure.

    1. If you wear glasses or want to look uber cool in pictures in your sunglasses, please remember that if you head for a swim they may get dislodged from your head, so please remember to tie or secure them on in place.
