    FAQs

Is there a minimum age requirement to participate on these sessions?

We operate a minimum age of 8 years old for these sessions - this is due to the length of the session, potential weather conditions and also equipment levels.

Do I need to be able to swim?

Yes, due to the aquatic nature of SUP we ask that you can confidently swim a minimum of 50m unaided.

    What to bring
    1. Parking is anywhere in the car park at NOA HQ and Pleasure Boat Inn pub

    1. Toilet and changing facilities are available at the public toilet facility located on the left upon arrival in the car park.

    1. It’s advisable to bring a wetsuit if you have one and especially in the earlier months of the year, however this may prove to be too warm over the summer – but ultimately remember, SUP is a dry sport (once learnt) and the idea isn’t to go swimming!

    1. If you don't have a wetsuit then a few changes of clothes to enable you to change into - just in case of any accidents!

    1. Time on the water to last approx 1-1.5 hours of actual paddling, so make sure you bring some food and snacks to keep you going - SUP can be tiring, especially when you're learning for the first time! We are also located right next to the Pleasure Boat Inn pub should you feel you need something a little more substantial.

    1. Please note that we recommend that you don’t bring a camera unless it’s of a waterproof variety (waterproof phones or GoPro type of action camera in waterproof housing etc should be fine but don’t drop them!) or if you do make sure it's tied on to your body somewhere!

    1. Your instructor will however be equipped with a waterproof camera and will happily take photos of before and after of you enjoying your adventure.

    1. If you wear glasses or want to look uber cool in pictures in your sunglasses, please remember that if you head for a swim they may get dislodged from your head, so please remember to tie or secure them on in place.
