    Introduction to Sea Kayak Workshop

The NOA Introduction to Sea Kayaking Workshop is a great way to learn about paddling at sea safely as opposed to more calmer inland sheltered waters that people may only be used too.

This workshop is is a perfect opportunity to learn not only about the physical side to Sea Kayaking - but also to understand the added risks due to tide, swell, winds and how to understand coastal navigation. The session will also tackle how to cope should you or another fellow paddler face a capsize and rescue situation whilst paddling out at sea.

Please note that this session is not suitable for complete beginners and paddlers wishing to undertake this session must have at least 10 hours of paddlign experience in 'sit-in' type kayaks.

If you wish to gain a good grounding for kayaking as a complete novice, then please consider our Kayaking SKills & Safety Workshop with will give you a fantastic grounding.

We operate a low Instructor/Student ratio on our Sea Kayaking Workshop with limited spaces per session which enables the more interaction time with the instructor.

This is both a practical and theory workshop which takes place both on and off the water ensuring that all of the following topics are covered:

    1. Equipment - Boat types/paddles, safety checks, correct fitting of boats and buoyancy aids
    2. Paddle Planning - Weather, understanding tide, swell, coastal navigation principles, safety considerations, environmental considerations.
    3. Basic self/Group Rescue - Safe capsize, helping a swimming paddler, emptying a full boat, re-entering capsized craft.
    4. Paddling Equipment - Correct paddling clothing, safety kit, communications, food/drink.
    5. Paddle Skills - Correct use of the paddle, developing efficient paddle techniques and bracing strokes.

Cost of workshop includes highly experienced instructor, boat, paddle, buoyancy aids, spray decks and all other related equipment.

You may bring your own boat if you have one and wish to do so.
