Coffee & Nature Kayak Adventure

Hickling, Norfolk
kayak - Up to 8 people

This is an amazing opportunity to get out on the water and to expereince the stunning beauty and nature of Hickling Broad from a wonderfully different and totally magical perspective!

Our highly expereinced guides will meet you at our launch point with your kayak and all other equipment needed, ready for to be transported out on this amazing trip - and this is where the real adventure starts!

Using our super stable and easy to paddle, rudder controlled WaveSport Horizon double kayaks, your guided adventure to Hickling Broad will continue out on the water where there will be every opportunity for you to see/hear Marsh Harrier, Bearded Tits, Reed Buntings and Warblers, Avocets and perhaps Bittern, Otter, Water Voles and more.

Of course we can't 'pre-book nature' - but in our expereince there's always something wonderful to see...!

The trip will take you though some of the sourrounding rivers then out on to Hickling itself, its back waters and in to a few of it's hidden gems which have a true 'Swallows & Amazons' vibe and definitely a feeling of getting away from it all!

This is the point where you'll stop, have an opportunity to get out and stretch your legs and enjoy a freshly brewed coffee (or tea) by the riverbank and heck - why not some delicious pastries or biscuits whilst you're at it..!

This trip is wonderful at any time of year in terms of peace, tranquility and the bonus of not too much in the way of other river traffic to to where we'll take you!

Your time on the water will last around 2.5 hours (with around 15 mins either end for paperwork and safety brief etc...) before heading back to the same launch point where you'll alight from your craft and ponder on the wonder that you'll have just expereinced!

A truly wonderful expereince and a must for visitors to the area and locals alike...this really is a special place!

Please note that during the current COVID-19 outbreak NOA and it's staff will implement a SAFE / CLEAN / HAPPY invironment and will expect all customers to adhere to Social Distancing rules of that time. Our rules will be availabe to read on the chalkboard located outside of the NOA office. Of course this is subject to change at any time.

What to bring

  1. Parking is anywhere in the car park at NOA HQ and Pleasure Boat Inn pub

  1. Toilet facilites are on the left as you drive into the car park.

  1. It’s advisable to bring layers and a waterproof/windproof jacket (if you have the same in trousers then bring them also) – it can get a little chilly on the water (in winter months especially or if you’re taking it quite leisurely) - also is advisable to bring a pair of trainers to paddle in (walking type boots may be too stiff).

  1. If you don't have any of the above then a change of clothes for when you get back just in case a little water gets inside the boat.

  1. Small dry sacks can be provided for keys, phones etc and the boats have stowage compartments for bags or spare clothing – we can also provide you with ‘pogies’ which are a windproof mitt that fits over the paddle in order to keep your hands a little warmer and also to protect them from any wind-chill – this really only applies in the colder months but there if you need them.

  1. Time on the water to last approx 2-2.5 hours, plus you’ll need at least 15/20 mins before and after for set up, safety briefing and return.

  1. Please note that we recommend that you don’t bring a camera unless it’s of a waterproof variety (waterproof phones or GoPro type of action camera in waterproof housing etc should be fine but don’t drop them!) In fact due to the darkness you’ll not be able to photograph anything anyway – that’s why these trips are so special – the images are stored in your memory - not digitally!

  1. Your guide will however be equipped with a waterproof camera and will happily take photos of before and after of you enjoying your adventure.

Is there a minimum age requirement to participate on this trip?

We operate a minimum age of 8 years old for these trips - this is due to the length of the trip, potential weather conditions and also equipment levels. Please note that each minor (under 16) booked on to a trip must be accompanied by the allocated responsible adult the same boat - so, 1:1 minor/adult.

Do I need to be able to swim?

Yes, due to the aquatic nature of kayaking we ask that you can confidently swim a minimum of 50m unaided

Cancellation Policy

Here at Norfolk Outdoor Adventures we understand that sometimes the weather can turn against us and also that life changes and can occasionally get in the way of us having a good time! Therefore we thought it fair to create this page to outline what our policy is on cancellations - wether it’s due to canceling/postponing trips and experiences due to unfavourable weather, or from a cancellation of a booking directly from the participant.

Cancellation due to inclement weather:

All lessons, trips, experiences are subject to weather conditions and availability of instructors/guides and maybe be cancelled or postponed at short notice. Should this be the case then you will be notified as soon as possible and sent a unique code which will enable you to re-book for any of our sessions in the future and will be valid for 1 year from date of the cancelled session.

Participant Cancellation:

Participant cancellations within 7 days of the date of the booked event are subject to 25% cancellation fee. No refunds will be given for cancellations received within 24hrs of the date of the event. Only applicable to the original booking and cannot apply to any credit or voucher supplied as a result of the original booking.

Minimum Pre-Booked Participation Requirements:

As you can understand it takes quite a lot of organisation and planning to run our trips successfully, therefore we will only run our trips if we have received the minimum booking numbers to make the trip work on the day. In the case of this trip the minimum bookings required is 4 people booked on in advanceof the trip date.

Should the trip look like it will not take place due to insufficient bookings, you will be notified of it’s cancelation as soon as possible (5pm night before trip at latest) and as we don't want you to miss out - a gift voucher/code will be sent too you in order to re-book onto anything that you would like to take part in with NOA in the future.

Cancellation due to Natural Disaster:

As per our policy for ‘Natural Disasters’ no refunds will be offered if cancellation is due to an unforeseeable natural disaster or ‘act of God’ as quite obviously this is out of our control.  Specifically, in no event will we be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever without limitation arising from the contracting of COVID-19 Coronavirus whilst engaging in any of our activities and/or sessions and by agreeing to this you thereby release and discharge us from any claims and liabilities against us due to any COVID-19 Coronavirus circumstance which might occur.  We will of course honour your booking going forward and will offer you a unique credit code which will enable you to re-book for any of our sessions in the future and will be valid for 1 year from date of the cancelled session
