Description
This is a full day canyoning adventure based in Eskdale.
We will be using the picturesque Esk Gorge; a mountain ghyll that cascades from the Scafell massif.
We will meet you on location at the base of the Hardknott Pass and provide you with all the equipment needed for a full day gorge scrambling experience.
We will provide you with the following for a comfortable and enjoyable day:
- High quality full length 3mm wetsuit
- Extra 2mm wetsuit jacket
- Spray cagoule
- Neoprene socks
- Helmet
- Harness
- Technical canyoning equipment
- Hardware & ropes
- Group kit & emergency equipment
We advise you to bring a rucksack/bag (30-35 litres) to carry all of your equipment into the valley as we will walk for 45-50 minutes to get to the entrance point.
We will give a full and comprehensive safety briefing & demonstrations.
The instructor will take you through the canyon adhering to ICOPro canyoning techniques, These are internationally recognised standards for canyoning.
This is a fully aquatic journey as we ascend the gorge.
If you are looking for an adrenaline filled adventure then this is for you. This trip offers some of the biggest jumps in the Lake District; we have up to 8 jumps at this venue, up to 14 metres in height.
We are jumping into huge plunge pools with crystal clear water, scrambling up the watercourse and over waterfalls. We will fix ropes to aid your progression as we ascend the canyon.
There will be some short swimming sections but buoyancy aids are provided for this trip.
For smaller groups, for the finale, there is an option to be heading into Lingcove Beck, a short walk over from the Esk Gorge.
We will enter Lingcove Beck and we will descend the watercourse, back to our original starting point.
This will be via an abseil. You will lower yourself into the pool below, adjacent to a huge waterfall.

- A qualified & experienced mountaineering instructor
- Trained to ICOPro level 3 standard (International Canyoning Organisation for Professionals)
