Description
What is classic rock?
Classic rock is a series of climbs listed throughout the UK and are detailed in Ken Wilsons' hard back book 'Classic Rock'
These routes gain a classic status or merit due to their sheer quality or their significance on the first ascent.
The Lake District is host to 12 classic rock routes. These range from the VD-VS grade range and therefore are amenable and accessible to all climbers.
We can choose routes and crags that are close to the road, beginner friendly & easier, or we can go for a mountain day and have an adventure high in the fells; on a mountain crag where we are following in the footsteps of pioneers.
Examples of classic rock routes:
- Little Chamonix
- Troutdale Pinnacle
- Needle Ridge
- Ash Tree Slabs
- New West Climb
- C Route
- Moss Ghyll Grooves
From Scafell, to Pillar and even Great Gable; these routes are the best the Lakes has to offer a rock climber!
