    2 Consecutive DAYS - at same time

    This is ideal for young people who want to participate in surfing and water-sports activities and enjoy the environment, its a great opportunity to meet other young people who share the same interest.

    The summer academy will run over two days

    Surf & water-sports program small group sizes –

    must be aged (8 yrs to 13yrs)

    Group sizes are ratio 1 surf coach to 6 young people (1 x 6)

    All equipment is supplied (wetsuit, surfboard)

    All young people must be able to swim 50m unaided

    As these are very popular courses we ask that you book in advance.

    All our staff our DBS checked

    IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE:

    1. DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UP CHILDREN

    Please register you child in at surf school each day, you need to be available on the beach in case of any disruptions or incidents occur, please pick up your young ones at the finished times stated.

    1. AGE RESTRICTION

    We understand all children of all ages want to participate you must be 8 years and above and MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM 50 METRES UNAIDED we will not change our policy on this please don’t ask. If you have children under this age then ask coach for prices on private lessons.

    1. DISABILITIES

    Please tell staff/ coaches of any disabilities that can affect the ability to follow instructions in the water. It is the responsibility of guardians to inform the instructors as this will be written on the waiver form provided by Kent Surf School failing to do this can spoil any enjoyment and safety.

    1. SEA CONDITIONS & BAD WEATHER

    If the sea conditions are too rough it’s the discretion of the surf coach to make judgement on the choice of the activity for the safety of the group, by signing the waiver form you have agreed to terms.


    1. NO REFUNDS

    Sorry there will be no refunds due to the popularity of our summer academy.






    Requirements
    1. All participants must be able to swim at least 50 metres and should, under no circumstances, be under the influence of any alcohol, drugs or medication at the time of the lesson which may adversely affect their physical capabilities.
    2. All participants suffering any physical or medical conditions, illnesses or allergies, including any prescribed medications, should make us aware of any such conditions or requirements prior to the event.
    3. No child should be left alone on the beach without their parents present, please pick up your child/ward at appropriate times when lesson finishes.
    4. No-one should participate in any surfing lesson if they are pregnant or suffering from a heart condition.
    What to bring
    1. 'Slim-fit'/Lycra swimwear, to be worn underneath the wetsuit (i.e., no 'baggy' shorts)
    2. Towel
    3. Bottle of Water
    4. Sun cream

    CHILDREN <12YRS: 'Rock-pooling'/neoprene (soft rubber-soled) shoes or wetsuit boots are recommended for protection against weever fish. This applies to summertime only (May-Oct), as we provide boots during winter.

    1. Meet & greet your selected instructor
    2. Allocation of equipment, wetsuit at the surf school
    3. supervised water sports lesson
    4. Assessment of ocean conditions
    5. Beach/surf safety introduction
    6. Introduction to equipment and safe handling techniques
    7. Introduction to activity
    8. Using equipment stopping/falling safely
    9. Applying newly-developed skills to changing conditions and/or more progressive equipment
    10. Session debrief
