  • Description

    River Arun Paddle Boarding Trip.

    This is a fantastic trip!

We paddle from Littlehampton to The Black Rabbit Pub Near Arundel For A Well deserved inclusive Pub Lunch & drink & then then back to Littlehampton by car or by paddle board ? You decide...

Total Distance: 7 to 14 Miles Approx (depending on if you do the whole trip ?)

The Arun is a river in the county of West Sussex and is the 2nd fastest flowing river in England. The river is tidal as far inland as Pallingham Quay, 25.5 miles inland from the sea at Littlehampton.

We start this trip from Littlehampton at a car park right on the rivers edge by the Look and Sea Visitors Centre. The car park here is purpose made for people looking to gain access to the slip ramp directly into the river and / or out to sea.

Cost for the car park is around £7.00 for the entire day, but be aware that it fills up quickly so plan your timing carefully especially if the weather is good.

Postcode for the car park is BN17 5AW and road name is Surrey Street.

Expected Level Of Participants: Able bodied and have completed a minimum of 2 hours paddle boarding training with ourselves or another training provider.

The river has currents running between 4-6 knots and can be quite volatile in places with turbulent swirling water as well as having boat traffic to deal with.

So, whilst it is a fun and scenic place it isn’t a place we can consider taking complete beginners and therefore set the level for this trip at 2 hours minimum experience beforehand with compulsory wearing of buoyancy aids, helmets and leashes for participants.

As far as the route goes we simply follow the river inland for 7 miles passing Arundel village and castle to the Black Rabbit Pub (approx 1.5 to 2 hours paddling) where we can tie up our boards, rest and have something to eat before the tide starts to turn and we then either start paddling back to our start point in Littlehampton or simply stop at the pub in Arundel if you prefer.

    Requirements

You must be able bodied and able to swim 50m for this trip

    What to bring

Water, towel, hat, sun cream, sun glasses plus a wet suit if you have one and shoes you don't mind getting wet (if you don't have a wetsuit we can hire you one) plus money for drinks / food at the turn around point (The pub)

    Itinerary

Although we say 4 hours, we allow 6 hours for this event with an allowance of 2 hours each way for the paddling and an hour break at the pub half way and an hour as contingency. The paddling is at a relaxed pace taking in the wonderful views. We know you'll love this trip
