BSUPA ‘Ready to Ride’ Group SUP Sessions at Trifarm

These Covid-19 alert BSUPA ‘Ready to Ride’ group SUP sessions at the Trifarm swimming lake in Boreham are suitable for those who are completely new to SUP or have SUPed before but have not received the BSUPA ‘Ready to Ride’ skills and competency certificate. (BSUPA is the British Stand Up Paddle Association.)

You will be using our SUP kit and buoyancy aids. You will need to provide all your own clothing and footwear (see details in 4 below). If you have one, you can bring your own SUP board.

Children aged 11yrs-17yrs can attend as long as a parent or legal guardian is booked into the session, paddling with them and supervising them at all times, on a 1:2:1 basis (i.e. one child per parent/legal guardian.) *If you have 2 children and only one parent/legal guardian, please call us on 07597 094233 to discuss before making your booking, thank you. It MUST be a parent or legal guardian, no one else, thanks.

The Government currently requires outdoor activity instruction to be conducted in small groups and for us ALL to maintain social distancing of at least 1m. As such, we have labelled each small group in the booking system with a colour, and each colour group will be taught separately in the lake environs. This is GREEN group. The colour means nothing about competence, it is only used to manage social distancing :) If you can't find spaces here try looking at another colour group.

If you are a parent or legal guardian booking to attend with your 11yr-17yr old child, you MUST both be booked into the same colour group.

If you are trying to book for a larger group, please speak to Anni on 07597 094233 for advice.

There are quite a few important rules and procedures that we all need to follow, especially regarding Covid-19. Here they are:

1 - You must be a competent swimmer and able to swim at least 25m clothed.

2 - Each 11-17yr old must be accompanied in the session by a parent/legal guardian, on a 1:2:1 basis (see * above).

3 - The Government's social distance rules must always be maintained by everyone, although you must accept that in the unlikely event of an emergency, we and possibly others may break the social distance rules to assist you.

4 - You will need to bring all your own clothing and footwear as you will not be able to use ours. We will provide you will a personal buoyancy aid, high viz rash vest for your colour group and SUP board, leash and paddle.

This is what you must bring with you:

-A towel, all paddling clothing and footwear. Footwear is mandatory, no bare feet please.

-You will need swimwear, we suggest a summer wetsuit (a shorty wetsuit is fine), as you can get very chilly when you are wet and there is a little breeze, even on a hot day, plus neoprene wet shoes or old trainers. If it is very hot, then shorts/leggings and a tee-shirt are OK. You and your clothing will get wet! :)

-A small dry bag to carry on the SUP board. (One per household/bubble per colour group is fine)

-In the bag you should have a small personal outdoor first aid kit plus personal hand sanitising gel and please be prepared to administer first aid to yourself. (One per household/bubble per colour group is fine)

-Water, any snacks you need, hat/visor*, glasses safety strap*, sun cream* any necessary medications* and bug spray* (*As required by you.)

Please do not bring any valuables (money, jewellery, posh watches, designer sunglasses, electronics etc.)

6 - Before you leave home, please cover any cuts & grazes with strong waterproof plasters.

7 - The main gate will be unlocked 15 minutes before the start time of your session either at 9.45am or 2.15pm depending on which session you have booked. PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE EARLIER THAN THIS AS THE SITE WILL BE LOCKED AND THERE IS NO WHERE TO PARK. On arrival please drive down the track to the welcome checkpoint, where your name will be checked against the booking list and your temperature taken. Then take the left fork up the little slope to the car park.

8 - You will be temperature checked and if your temperature is over 37.5 degrees the Lake Manager will ask you to leave. (Don't worry, you will get a chance to cool down and have another check, if you've been sitting in a hot car!)

9 - When you park your car, please leave plenty of space between your own and other cars. Your Instructor will meet you in the car park and he/she will be wearing a green baseball hat and yellow instructor shirt.

10 - The changing rooms are closed so you will need to get ready in your car. There is a port-a-loo on site with sanitisers.

11 - Please get everything ready in the car park and then your Instructor will direct you to walk to the lake’s edge. Sorry but we cannot touch or carry any of your belongings for you or help you to fasten any wetsuit zips.

12- From July 4th they will be selling delicious homemade cakes at Trifarm plus teas/coffees, so bring a little cash and treat yourself!
