Sudbury River Stour Explore Blue

Suffolk
sup - Up to 10 people

Description

Difficulty level: Blue

This is an approx 12km paddle on non-tidal water. It is a rural ONE WAY PADDLE DOWNSTREAM that you must be able to complete. Prior to this event you must pair up with a buddy and make your own arrangements to have your cars at the start point and end point.

Start point: The Granary, Quay Lane, Sudbury C010 2AN.

Parking is free with no height restriction.

Then we will paddle from The Granary past the beautiful Sudbury water-meadows, then portage through the lock ready for a gentle winding river paddle to the Henny Swan. Continue with another 2+ hours paddling and portaging past 3 more weirs, to then arrive at Bures Recreation Ground, to eat your picnic lunch (please bring and carry your own food and drink).

End point: Bures Recreation Ground, Nayland Road, Bures St Mary, CO8 5BX. Parking is free with no height restriction.

Then you and your buddy will shuttle yourselves back to the Granary in Sudbury. Please not that we cannot provide transport.

To access this river you must either be a British Canoeing Member or buy a weekly licence (sadly they don't issue day licences) from the River Stour Trust to paddle on this beautiful river. You can do this in advance online or on the day at the Granary.

If you are using a Frangipani SUP board you do not need to worry about this.

For the HUB member discounted price or for a discount for bringing and using your own SUP board, please select the appropriate 'added extra' discount when you check-out.
