Description

BSUPA ‘Ready to Ride’ SUP Group Sessions at the Trifarm swimming lake

Hello! These fantastic BSUPA Level 1 ‘Ready to Ride’ group SUP sessions at the Trifarm swimming lake in Boreham are suitable for those who are completely new to SUP or have SUPed before but have not yet received the BSUPA Level 1 ‘Ready to Ride’ skills/competency certificate. (BSUPA is the British Stand Up Paddle Association.)

You will be using our SUP kit, buoyancy aids & high vis rash vests. You will need to provide all your own clothing & footwear (see details in 4 below). If you have one, you can bring your own SUP board.

*Children aged 11yrs-17yrs can participate as long as a parent or legal guardian is booked into the session, paddling with them and supervising them at all times, on a 1:2:1 basis (i.e. one child per parent/legal guardian.) *If you have 2 children & only one parent/legal guardian, please email us info@frangipanisup.com or call us on 07597 094233 to discuss before making your booking, thank you. It MUST be their parent or legal guardian paddling with the child, no one else, thank you.

The Government currently requires outdoor activity instruction to be conducted in small groups & for us ALL to maintain social distancing. As such, we have labelled each small group at Trifarm in the booking system with a colour, and each colour group will be taught separately in the lake environs. The colour means nothing about competence, it is only used to manage social distancing :) This is BLUE group. If you can't find spaces here try looking at another colour group (green or pink).

If you are a parent or legal guardian booking to attend with your 11yr-17yr old child, you MUST both be booked into the same colour group. If you want to be with your friend or relative, please make sure you are booked in the same colour group. If you can not find spaces here in BLUE, come out of this activity & go check our GREEN & PINK Trifarm 'Ready to Ride' activity listings. If you are trying to book for a private family session, or for a larger group, such as a corporate team, please speak to Anni on 07597 094233 for advice. Thank you.

There are quite a few important rules and procedures that we all need to follow, especially regarding Covid-19. Here they are:

1 - You must be a competent swimmer and able to swim at least 25m clothed.

2 - Each 11-17yr old must be accompanied in the session by their parent/legal guardian, on a 1:2:1 basis (see * above).

3 - The Government's social distance rules must always be maintained by everyone, although you must accept that in the unlikely event of an emergency, we & possibly others may break the social distance rules to assist you.

4 - You will need to bring all your own clothing & footwear. We will provide you will a personal buoyancy aid, high vis rash vest, SUP board, leash & paddle.

This is what you must bring to wear:

-A WETSUIT plus neoprene WET SHOES/OLD TRAINERS. Footwear is mandatory, no bare feet please.

(IF YOU ARE BOOKING A SESSION IN MID-JUNE, JUL or AUG you can wear non-cotton sports clothes such as leggings/t-shirts/shorts rather than a wetsuit, if you would prefer, or you can still bring your own wetsuit. Please note that even if it is sunny the lake water can be cold and on a warm day you can still get very chilly when wet, so dress appropriately, thanks. (In non-Covid times we would normally be providing you with a 3mm full arm/full leg wetsuit for May/early June, on colder or wet days in the summer, or for those who feel the cold. In mid June onwards we would normally also be providing you with a short arm/short leg summer wetsuit option. On hot summer days you can opt out of neoprene! Hopefully, this information will help you decide what to wear.)

Please also bring with you:

-A towel, change of clothes/warm layers to change into.

-A small dry bag to carry on your SUP board. (One per household per colour group is fine)

-In the dry bag you should have a small personal outdoor first aid kit plus small personal hand sanitising gel & please be prepared to administer simple first aid to yourself/your family. (One per household per colour group is fine)

-Water, any snacks you need, hat/visor*, glasses safety strap*, sun cream* any necessary medications* and bug spray* (*As required by you.)

Please do not bring any valuables (money, jewellery, posh watches, designer sunglasses, electronics etc.)

5 - Before you leave home, please cover any cuts & grazes with strong waterproof plasters.

6 - On arrival please drive down the track and then take the left fork up the little slope & park in the car park.

7 - When you park your car, please leave plenty of space between your own and other cars.

8 - The changing rooms are currently closed so you will need to get ready in your car. There is a port-a-loo on site with sanitisers.

9 - Please get ready in your car/the car park and your Instructor will meet you there.

10- Hot/cold drinks & homemade cakes can be purchased at the portacabin cafe afterwards!

Please don't arrive any earlier than the start time of your booking. Off water approximately 12.00pm/3.30pm gates shut 12.30pm/4pm, depending on whether you are booked on a morning or afternoon session.

You are going to have a great time learning this exciting & fun new sport at this beautiful water tested, life-guarded swimming lake :)
