Paddle Practice Trifarm

Boreham
sup - Up to 6 people

Description

These DIY 'Paddle Practice' sessions (for adults) at the beautiful Trifarm swimming lake in Boreham are designed to give you access to lake paddling over the autumn/winter for relaxation, exercise and/or training in the fresh air, using your own SUP board or ours. Buoys will be laid out around the lake if you want to use them.

Gates open at 10:30am, launch from 11:30am, everyone off the water by 1.15pm and gates close at 1:30pm. To assist with social distancing, please select a paddling time slot in this booking process, which gives you a time to arrive at the launch flag at the lake's edge, ready for briefing and launch and a time by which to be off the water (11:25am-12:55pm, 11:30am-1pm, 11:35am-1.05pm, 11:40am-1.10pm & 11:45am-1.15pm.)

You must be a reasonably competent paddler, who can get back onto their SUP board unaided and have your BSUPA Level 1 'Ready to Ride' certificate, or equivalent, to participate in these sessions. If you don't have this certificate, but do have your own SUP board, and consider yourself competent to paddle in these sessions, then please give us a quick call to discuss it before making your booking, on 07597 094233, thank you.

On the day our Instructors will be on hand to keep a safety eye on you as you use the lake. They will provide safety information before you launch and will be happy to give you a little technique/paddling/kit advice, if you ask for it.

You can use our equipment (SUP board, paddle, leash and Personal Buoyancy Aid) for £30 or you can bring your own and use the lake and site facilities for £15. Parking included. If you would like to use our equipment, please select it as an 'added extra' when you book.

There are quite a few important safety rules and procedures that we all need to follow, especially regarding Covid-19:

1 - You must be a competent swimmer and able to swim at least 25m clothed.

2 - The Government's Covid-19 advice and guidance (see Covid-19), including that concerning social distancing and meeting others socially, must be followed by everyone, although you must accept that in the unlikely event of an emergency, we and possibly others may break the social distance rules to assist you.

3 - You must please bring paddling clothing appropriate for the weather & water conditions, such as an autumn/winter wetsuit, plus a well-fitting Personal Buoyancy Aid or Personal Flotation Device and paddling footwear, both of which are mandatory. We do have some Personal Buoyancy Aids that you can hire if you don't have your own (£3 each). Please select it as an 'added extra' when you book. Please note that we will not let you launch if we consider you to be underdressed for the temperature/conditions or if you don't have the appropriate equipment. You should also bring warm/waterproof layers and a hat etc. to keep warm when you come off the water.

4 - Please bring a small dry bag to carry on your SUP board (one per household/support bubble is fine) containing a small personal outdoor first aid kit plus personal hand sanitising gel & any medications you may need. Please be prepared to administer first aid to yourself/household/support bubble.

5 - Please do not bring any valuables to the site as we can't secure them (money, jewellery, posh watches, electronics etc.)

6 - Before you leave home, please cover any cuts & grazes with strong waterproof plasters.

7 - When you park your car, please leave plenty of space between your own car and others.

8 - The changing rooms are closed so you will need to get ready in your car. There is a port-a-loo on site with hand sanitisers.

9 - Please get everything ready in the car park, and if you need to inflate your SUP board please do it at the end of your car, not between yours and other cars. Then please walk your kit down to the flag at the launch point at the lake's edge. Please watch out for uneven slippery ground and look out for vehicles on the farm track. At the flag, please check-in with our Instructor before launching. He/she will check your name off the list, provide safety information and invite you to launch. Please do not launch anywhere else other than at the flag. Please launch from and return to the flag on your knees and also paddle on your knees when you are within 2 board's length from the lake edges, which are shallow. Please do not leave kit lying around at the launch flag. There will be hand sanitisers available at the a launch flag. Thank you.

10 - You must have third party insurance for your own SUP board (you could join BSUPA to obtain insurance.)

11 - Please don't jump or dive off your SUP board as you could seriously injure yourself.

12 - Please don't share kit with others outside of your household/bubble.

13 - You may bring spectators from your household/support bubble with you onto the site in your car (because parking space is limited) to watch you paddle but you must provide us with their names when asked as part of this booking process. They can walk around the lake using the gravel footpath. Any spectator aged 17 years or younger must be supervised at all times by their parent or legal guardian whilst on the site and must be kept away from the lake edges. Sorry but a parent/legal guardian can not paddle themselves and leave their child unsupervised in the van/car or at the side of the lake. Dogs are welcome but must kept on their leads at all times.

14 - Please maintain the Government's social distancing rules at all times both on and off the water. Thank you.

15 - The Trifarm portacabin cafe will be selling hot drinks and delicious homemade cakes through the door hatch and the picnic table area will be open.

Sorry there are so many rules! Thank you for your support and understanding to make this activity Covid-19 compliant and safe for us all. Any questions, suggestions or problems, please email info@frangipanisup.com or call us on 07597 094233. Thank you for your cooperation.
