1:2:1 SUP Development Sessions

sup - Up to 2 people

These Covid-19 alert 1;2;1 SUP knowledge and skills sessions will be with a BSUPA Level 1 or 2 Instructor or a BSUPA Trainer, at the Trifarm swimming lake in Boreham, which has reopened. We are so stoked!

These very personal sessions are suitable for all levels of paddler (except complete beginners, see 2 below) including wannabe or new instructors looking for development. Brush up your technique, buoy turning, practice getting back on your board - at this beautiful water-tested, life-guarded swimming lake.

Session are 2 hrs 15 mins long from gate arrival to gate departure and cost from £55 per person, with advance bookings and online payments required.

There are quite a few important Covid-19 alert rules and procedures that we all need to follow. Here they are:

1 - You must be a competent swimmer able to swim at least 25m clothed and be aged over 18 years.

2 - For the initial sessions in June, you must also have stand up paddled before and you must bring with you ALL your own SUP kit, equipment and clothing as you won’t be able to use any of ours. (i.e. you must be fully self-sufficient on the kit, equipment and clothing front.)

Sorry if this means you can’t join these initial sessions. We plan to open up sessions very soon to those who have paddled before but who don’t have all their own SUP kit — and then eventually to complete beginners — as and when we feel more confident with how Covid-19 social separation works in SUP tuition. Please email us to let us know if this is you ( so that we are aware of your needs and can keep you updated as the situation unfolds. Please also keep an eye on our website and our social media for updates. Thank you.

3 - A strict 2m social distance must always be maintained by everyone, although you must accept that in the unlikely event of an emergency, we and possibly others may break the 2m rule to assist you.

4 - Here’s what you must bring with you:

  1. SUP board with cargo straps, fin + fittings, appropriate leash, pump + fittings (if it’s an iSUP) and your paddle,
  2. A well-fitting personal buoyancy aid of at least 50 newtons
  3. A towel, all clothing and paddling footwear (footwear is mandatory),
  4. A small dry bag to carry on your board using your own cargo straps,
  5. A small personal outdoor first aid kit plus personal hand sanitising gel and be prepared to administer first aid to yourself.
  6. Water, any snacks you need, hat/visor*, glasses safety strap*, sun cream* any necessary medications* and bug spray.* (*As required by you.)

5 - Please don’t bring any valuables (money, jewellery, posh watches, designer sunglasses, electronics etc.)

6 - Before you leave home, please cover any cuts & grazes with strong waterproof plasters.

7 - The main gate will be unlocked at the exact start time of your session either at 9:30 or at 12 noon depending on which session you have booked. PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE BEFORE YOUR START TIME AS THERE IS NO WHERE TO PARK. Then the main gate will be locked.

8 - Only the person booked onto the session (i.e. you) is permitted to attend the session, sorry but strictly no friends or family members are allowed onto the site to spectate. If you arrive with others, in your car or theirs, the Lake Manager will not let you or them in.

9 - You will be temperature checked at the main gate. If your temperature is 37.5 degrees or over the Lake Manager will not permit you entry and you will have to leave.

10 - When you park your car, please leave plenty of space between yours and any other cars. Your Instructor will meet you in the car park.

11- The changing rooms are closed so you will need to get changed in your car. There is a port-a-loo on site with gel sanitisers.

12- Please get all your kit ready in the car park and then your Instructor will show you where to walk, so that you can carry all your own kit to the lake’s edge. Sorry but we can’t touch or carry your kit for you, or help you to fasten any wetsuit zips.

Phew! And then we can HAVE A GREAT TIME! :)

Drop us an email at if you have any questions or if you have any additional thoughts on how we can operate safety.
