Beginner Improvement Sessions

This class is for Paddle Boarders who are looking to improve their stability when standing up and their paddle stroke to be more efficient. It will include safety advice about the river and how to keep yourself safe.

What to bring

Please bring your board and buoyancy aid if you have one.

No specialist clothing is required. In warm weather, ordinary gym gear will be fine (shorts/leggings/T-shirt/sweatshirt), with old sandals or trainers you don't mind getting wet. Or you can get cheap neoprene wet shoes from most large supermarkets.

In colder weather, a wetsuit or drysuit would be advisory.

Always bring a towel and a change of clothes just in case you go in during the paddle boarding session.

Please arrive early enough to pump up your board. Ideally 20 minutes before the lesson starts.


You should have your own board and been out on it at least once. Have a reasonable balance and a sense of adventure.


We will assess your ability and coach you in the skills that you need the most, whether this is board control, paddle stroke or turning.


Standard: Guaranteed full refund if cancelling 72h prior.

You will be entitled to a full refund under the following circumstances:

  • If your booking is under £200 and you cancelled at least a full 24h prior to the activity start time.
  • If your booking is over £200 and you cancelled at least a full 72h prior to the activity start time.
  • If the centre cancels the activity at any time.

If the conditions on the day aren’t ideal but the activity is still taking place, refunds & rescheduling will only be provided under special circumstance
