Kayaking

Cornwall
kayak - Up to 8 people

Description

Accessible to all, our sea kayaking trips allow you to paddle a stretch of this breathtaking coastline, getting the best view of Cornwall. You’ll discover secret coves, unspoilt sandy beaches, venture into otherwise inaccessible caves and paddle through lagoon like gullies whilst spotting some of the amazing marine wildlife and seabirds that live here.

Setting off from the beautiful cove at Port Gaverne you’ll spend two hours on the water under the guidance of one of our qualified sea kayaking instructors, learning some basic kayaking skills before setting off as a group to explore the surrounding coastline and leaving the crowds on the beach far behind.

Our Sea Kayaking sessions are popular with families and individuals or small groups of all ages. We primarily use double sit-on-top sea kayaks that are extremely stable and allow you to paddle efficiently either alone or as a pair, so that you can spend your time focused on enjoying the experience. We do have single sit-on-tops available but due to the conditions and H&S ratios we can't guarantee these will be available for use until 24 hours before the activity.

Participants must be eight years old or over and competent swimmers (i.e. be able to swim 25M in a pool unaided), although we can accommodate younger children if accompanied by a parent and subject to conditions and availability. We ask that preferably children under 14 years old are accompanied by an adult however this is only a recommendation and not essential.

Sea Kayaking costs £40 per person and includes the use of all necessary equipment, including a warm wetsuit, thick-soled wetsuit boots, a buoyancy aid and a helmet as well as the sit-on-top kayak and paddle. All you need to bring is a towel and swimwear.

What to bring

Please note - we don’t have any changing facilities, therefore you will be getting changed on the beach so please bring a changing robe or large towel.

Physical requirements

Kayaking can be a very physical activity and we have to express to all participants that they need to be able to swim at least 25mtrs unaided as well as being comfortable with physical exertion in restrictive water sports equipment for a duration of approximately 2 hours.

Cancellations

Rigid: Guaranteed full refund if cancelling 5 days prior.

You will be entitled to a full refund under the following circumstances:

  • If your booking is under £200 and you cancelled at least a full 72h prior to the activity start time.
  • If your booking is over £200 and you cancelled at least a full 5 days prior to the activity start time.
  • If the centre cancels the activity at any time.

If the conditions on the day aren’t ideal but the activity still takes place, you will not be eligible for a refund.
