Open Water Wild Swim

Cornwall
other - Up to 4 people

Description

Experience the beauty of the Cornish coastline from the water, swimming between sheltered, secluded, coves and staring up at majestic cliffs. Whether you’re already an open water swimming enthusiast, a triathlete in training or you’ve never left the confines of a pool, you’ll find one of our guided wild swimming routes to suit your needs, whatever your ability.

From our base on the North Cornwall coast, Cornish Rock Tors are able to offer a range of wild swimming routes in beautiful and secluded locations. Our routes from Port Gaverne to Port Isaac and beyond follow the impressive rocky shoreline and provide a real sense of escape.

Whichever you choose to swim with us, you will be embracing the elements and will enjoy stunning natural environments. You won’t be counting pool tiles with Cornish Rock Tors!

You will be led by a qualified guide/coach and lifeguard who will swim or paddle alongside you, providing support and encouragement should it be required and carrying towels and refreshments if you plan to stop en-route.

Our routes can be tailored to your requirements, from a leisurely swim with friends exploring a sheltered inlet or stretch of otherwise inaccessible coastline, through to a long open-water training swim for athletes or club members, and everything in-between.

Short Routes

Our short route options are ideal for small groups wishing to explore the beautiful coastline of Cornwall, or for swimmers wishing to develop their confidence in open water or dipping their toes in “wild swimming”. The emphasis is on having fun and soaking up the sights as you swim along a short section of secluded coast.

Medium Routes

Designed for confident swimmers or wild swimming enthusiasts, our medium length routes are more of a “journey”. The aim is to provide a comfortable level of challenge whilst allowing you to soak up some sights along the way, leaving you with a sense of achievement as you walk up the beach at the end.

Longer Routes

If you are an avid open water swimmer then this is for you. We can tailor routes to specific distances if you or your club are training for an event, or we can set you a challenge!

Prices start from £40 per person and we recommend brining your own equipment.

What to bring

Please note - we don’t have any changing facilities, therefore you will be getting changed on the beach so please bring a changing robe or large towel.

People come in all shapes and sizes (and we all have different shaped faces!) so we recommend brining your own goggles and swim suits for the open water swimming.

Physical requirements

Open water swimming is a very physical activity and we have to express to all participants that they need to be able to swim at least 100mtrs unaided as well as being comfortable with physical exertion in restrictive water sports equipment for a duration of approximately 1 hour.

Cancellations

Rigid: Guaranteed full refund if cancelling 5 days prior.

You will be entitled to a full refund under the following circumstances:

  • If your booking is under £200 and you cancelled at least a full 72h prior to the activity start time.
  • If your booking is over £200 and you cancelled at least a full 5 days prior to the activity start time.
  • If the centre cancels the activity at any time.

If the conditions on the day aren’t ideal but the activity still takes place, you will not be eligible for a refund.
